APPEARANCE

Height:5'9"Hair Color:Light Brown
Build:MuscularEye Color:Ice blue

When it comes to style, Dora isn't much of a risk-taker. She wears her uniform perfectly pressed, in the way it was intended to be. Maybe the skirts a little high. Maybe. Out of uniform, she's the same. Her clothing style is practical, comfortable, and easy to move in but looks put together. It's like Dora is always trying to present a middle-aged business-woman sort of aura, even though her clothing is age-appropriate. She has a thing for knee-high socks, so if she's in a skirt or dress you can expect to see her wearing some kind of knee high sock. She follows the typical style rules (color, pattern, texture, shine) so her outfits aren't boring despite being comfortable and practical.

---

Theodora is a little frightening. She takes everything very seriously. She has emotions - she understands them, feels them, and has no problem sharing them - but it's all very superficial. She just has no time or patience for very deep feelings. Having learned a long time ago how to control her own emotions in even the most intense situations, Dora can often be seen as cold and distant. There's a certain edge to her - one that speaks of violence and aggression, despite how calm and collected she seems on the surface. She's just a bit... dangerous.

Above all else, Theodora is practical. She likes rules, she likes plans. She's very intelligent and very detail oriented. She's extremely dedicated, loyalty and solidarity are qualities she looks for in people. She's logical and organized. If you want something done, Dora is your girl. She'll do it and she'll do it right. On time, wholly, and she'll throw in some extra to make sure it's all done exactly as it should be. Incredibly patient, she's one to comb over every detail to identify and eliminate loopholes. She likes to see things through, involve herself in a lot of different activities so she's a bit of a "jack-of-all-trades" type of person, preferring to have some knowledge on many topics than being a master on one.

As a leader, however, Dora values good teamwork. She expects a lot from her team, but knowledge goes a long way. She pays attention to how her teammates learn, how they work together, how they communicate, in an effort to create the most positive and efficient team environment possible. She will listen to your ideas, however absurd she might find them. She will give no indication that she listens just to seem like she cares - if there's a way to make your idea work, she'll make it work. It may not end up resembling what you originally suggested but it at least, in some way, will inspire the new plan. She wants her teammates to feel valued, and despite her otherwise very distant nature, will go out of her way to point out when someone does a good job when they've gone above and beyond their duties. She rewards hard work. When things go wrong, she tends to put the blame on herself before she puts it on anyone else.

She's not a shrew, though. She just wasn't raised to be more in-depth than that. She has the capability - she understands that other people are not like her and has zero issues with discussing emotional problems. She'll be as helpful as she possibly can, but she's more likely to offer you advice than just a shoulder to cry on. You can cry on her shoulder, but she's going to be whispering suggestions on how to make it better. You can wallow, but she'll be quietly judging you for it. It's just so pointless, move on.

SKILLS

Strategy: Theodora is a very good strategist. Any game or situation in which a strategy must be used to make it through or win, she excels.
Photography: It's an odd passion to have for someone so practical. Art is not typically something Dora likes, but she is very into photography. She has an eye for staging scenes and creating emotionally evocative imagery. She has learned how to develop her own film, but she prefers digital and has some photo editing skills, though she prefers not to heavily edit her images.
Hand-to-Hand/Close quarters combat: See battle stats for more information.
"Tetris-ing": You ever wonder how some people fit ridiculous amounts of clothing into a suitcase? Or how someone has so perfectly stacked things in their fridge, yours wouldn't come close to holding as much stuff even if it were bigger? Yeah, Dora's got that organizational bug that lets her Tetris things in just the right way to fit. It's not excessively useful, but hey, the girl can pack.

HISTORY

Family:

Colonel Marco Sandoval; Father; Currently working as an administrative capacity at New York Military Academy. Colonel Sandoval is a severe man when it comes to work. He has old school values - hard work, rule-abiding. He has a great sense of pride and accomplishment when it comes to his work and his military career. He's been known to be relatively funny and extremely understanding but not especially forgiving.
Edith Sandoval nee Arlen; Mother; Librarian. She doesn't actually need to work, but she likes to. The library gives her some sense of peace. She's just as strict as her husband, but she's more affectionate and loving towards her children.

Matthew Sandoval; Brother, older. Private First Class, currently deployed. (U.S. Military)
Zachary Sandoval; Brother, older. Private, currently in basic training (U.S. Military)

Hometown: Tallulah Falls, Georgia. Fayetteville, North Carolina. Hopkinsville, Kentucky. Waco, Texas. Lakewood, Washington. Cold Spring, New York.

Theodora Sandoval, affectionately called Dora, was born the third child to well-respected army man Marco Sandoval and his soft-spoken and adoring wife, Edith. They already had two sons and welcomed the inclusion of a daughter. Their family was complete in that. She spent the first few years of her life in Georgia. It's why she has even the slightest hint of a southern accent.

After that, though, the family moved around a lot. Marco's entire life centered around the military. He joined at eighteen, trying to find his place in America after moving to the country as a small child, gaining citizenship just before he joined. It was a thing of honor, of payback to a country that allowed him to make a better life for himself. For his wife and children. Edith, as much as she wished for a quieter life and for the safety of her husband, never once complained raising the three kids basically on her own. There were plenty of other military wives to help out. It takes a village, and all.

So in reality, Dora had plenty of parental figures around her, but her father was always, inexplicably and undeniably her favorite. She worshipped the ground he walked on. She was never her mother's pretty princess, never particularly feminine. She roughhoused with her brothers, she followed them everywhere to their great annoyance. Dora was always ready to throw down, to wrestle or climb trees. She had a great dislike for being dirty even at that age, but she'd be damned if she showed that particular weakness to her brothers.

All of them were homeschooled for a while. Many of the military communities they lived in had groups of mothers who did lesson plans, all part of the specific homeschooling system the Sandoval's used. It wasn't completely void of social interaction, but that never bothered Dora. She wasn't overly social, though she was always a good friend. It was just exhausting to be like that, outside of her family.

Middle school saw the first real change in her life - moving was constant, an integral part of her life, but staying? Attending one school for many years? That was different. When her parents sent her to a military boarding school - specifically, the Texas Military Institute (TMI) when she was to be in 6th grade. Her brothers already attended. First, as a day school when they lived in Texas, and then as a boarding school when her father transferred to Washington.

The next of the big changes in her life came when her father was placed at New York Military Academy, his impressive and lengthy career landing him a rather good job there. So for two years, Dora attended NYMA with every intention of continuing on and joining the military after. She was ready for it all, but they ruined it. Or really, he did. A specific boy, though the group was always part of it, that wanted her for himself. Dora was not the type of girl to date, her father would never have allowed it anyway and he was always there. He began stalking her, sending her things. Almost a year of this type of behavior - it was easy to ignore at first but then he started to get angry. He started to scare her.

Sure, her father expelled him once he found out - but he couldn't expel all that boys friends, who taunted her. He couldn't stop the letters being passed around that got to her anyway, even when he wasn't there. Eventually, Dora broke down and begged him to send her to another school - one that had just opened up, free tuition. A chance for her to re-think the life she wanted, the choices she was making. It killed her, thinking she would disappoint her father - but in truth, he almost seemed relieved as much as he was upset. Military life was tough - being in the military as a woman could sometimes be... rather unpleasant and it was starting to become more and more real to him. Before he'd had a daughter, he never noticed. When she was young, he'd noticed but it didn't matter. He thought his reputation would protect her as she got older, joined military school, proved herself - but this broke that wish for him.

So, in her Junior year, they sent her to Finchwood. It was more than what she had dreamed it could be, and put the purpose back into her - a new fire, she'd always felt there was nothing more purposeful in life than to protect your country. The idea that she could still do that, just in a different way, solidified her resolve in this. It must be destiny, fate, whatever you want to call it. She didn't even hesitate signing the contract. Her first year, she kept her head down - she focused on work, training, being the best she could be. She threw herself so fully into the school and the work, her social game suffered. But then, it always had. She was fine with that.

Now, though it's Senior year. It's her last year before being shoved back out into the world with no real plan on what she was supposed to do after now that she knew about the Shadow world, how she felt about the Military - she just wants to be... a little better. Learn a little more, both academically and socially. She's ready to be the best.

However, she knows an education is always going to be useful so she is incredibly dedicated to studying and getting very good grades. Battle Stats

(Link)

Character Name: Theodora Sandoval

Squad: 8
Squad Position: Leader
Primary Weapon: A longsword
Combat Style: Calculated. Dora isn't someone who rushes into battle without a plan. She has a strategy for everything. Her movements are steady, and she fights in a way that looks slow, purely for the amount of precision put into her movements. In reality, she's quite fast - very able to move fluidly with the sword. She's never singularly focused - she can shout orders and check on her teammates as she fights, capable of dividing the two things in her mind and paying almost equal attention to them. She isn't one to lose focus very easily.

Having gone to Military school, grown up with a military family, and taken self-defense classes when she was younger, Dora has learned how to fight in close quarters and can throw a very effective punch. Being physically too close to someone does not inhibit her ability to fight with or without her weapon. For those with longer range weapons, she prefers to use the close-up strategy to put them at a disadvantage.

Attribute: Balance. While she'd like to be the strongest, or fastest, or last the longest, it's just more logical to be good at all three. She might not be as good at one thing as everyone else, but she is capable of doing all three quite well.

Persona Name: Yehuiah
Persona Appearance: Yehuiah appears faceless. It's just blank, a place where a face should go, but doesn't. War is often a faceless thing. In order to battle, you have to disconnect. You can't empathize or feel anything. Yehuiah is genderless, an androgynous but thin, tall body with even longer arms and legs - a little disproportionate. Their wings are made of bone wrapped with what looks like burnt black silk, dripping off like blood. Just like their wings, Yehuiah's armor is also made of bone. For the final touch, a crown made of bones adorns the faceless head, fitting easily around the flowing, waist-length silver-blue hair.
